We’re girl crushing pretty hard on Amber Bayer! Amber is a Health & Fitness coach with Team Beachbody living in Portland, Oregon with her 7 year old son and adorable min-pin chihuahua pup. Here’s how we knew Amber was a great fit for the Rosehive Superfoods May Box – she has had an amazing personal transformation and now she works to help others by sharing her journey and offering support through accountability and online challenges. Even more inspiring, since she has begun her journey, you can trace her transformation with fitness and food and it’s one that I hope more superfoodies can feel inspired to follow. It starts with the ridiculously unsexy sweat and tears – the consistency in the gym, the boring but healthy meals, and then over time as you start to reach your personal health goals, something inside of you changes. You enjoy experimenting with healthy foods!
You hear us say it all the time – you can’t out superfood a poor diet. No amount of spirulina will get your metabolism on track like fresh fruits and vegetables consistently throughout the day. But once you have understood the start to your transformation – the regular workouts and the whole foods, the even more exciting part comes with learning and exploring new healthier alternatives to the junk food you used to crave. And that’s where the excitement of discovering new superfoods can really add a lot of value to your life. I have a feeling it did for Amber because she is looking and feeling BANGIN’ these days. We sat down with her to ask a few questions about her lifestyle and don’t forget, there’s still time to pre-order May’s box co-curated by Amber here. Use code ‘AMBERTCB‘ for 15% off + free shipping! Enjoy!
Q. You chose May’s theme to center around cacao, coconut, and coffee – if you couldn’t live without just one, which would you choose and why?
I seriously love all three so it’s really hard to choose! But I have to go with coffee. I’ve loved the aroma my whole life. I actually get excited about going to bed so I can wake up and have it again. I’ve learned to enjoy it with little to nothing added to it.
Q. What does superfood mean to you?
Superfood means magic to me. I find it so amazing that these magic foods and herbs exist and have the ability to heal us. It’s a reminder that nature still holds many answers to our everyday problems and dramas.
Q. What would you tell something looking to transition into a healthier lifestyle but not sure how to take the leap?
If you are on the fence because you are waiting for the right time, I say there is never the right time. Some people like to dabble, but I say go all in. It may feel like a lot at first, but as it becomes a true lifestyle change you learn to go with the ups and downs and find the balance.
Q. You chose shakeology for one of the ingredients in May’s box. What do you love about it or want people to know about it?
I love how much magic power is packed into one serving! 70+ superfoods all sourced and blended into one shake that tastes truly amazing. It often gets lumped in with other protein powders, but it’s so much more. I am still so impressed with the ingredients list. I am so happy that Rosehive customers can experience it!
Q. What does a typical day look like for you?
Wake up 6am, coffee, set intentions for the day, walk my puppy, check in with my customers and my coach teams online and workout. 3 days a week I go to a gym and meet with a trainer, every other day is home workouts with Beachbody on Demand. My son spends half the week with me and the other half with his dad so depending on the day, I would be spending time with him getting ready for school. I work at a hair salon 4 days a week but when I’m not at the salon I am getting groceries, cooking, meal prepping, working on my Youtube channel and coaching my clients. Evenings consist of spending time with my son and dog! It’s busy but so much fun!
Q. Favorite workout?
I love short, fast cardio workouts that are 30 mins or less. They can be so challenging but they are over before you know it! I love workouts that don’t require any equipment. I switch it up often but I feel my best when I’m doing cardio at least 3 days a week on top of weightlifting or yoga.
Q. Superfoods are a great addition to any diet but there’s nothing that gets the body moving like a good ol’ cup of fresh water. How do you stay hydrated throughout your day?
I recently bought a plastic BPA free reusable gallon jug. Every morning I fill it up and pour from it for everything I drink or make (i.e. in my shakeology or the water I use for my oatmeal). I take the jug with me to the salon, even though everyone laughs at me. Haha! I end up getting anywhere from 90-128 oz of water in a day this way. I am up many hours a day as well as staying very active, so this is a good amount for me. I suggest everyone drink atleast half their body weight in oz a day 🙂
